Video: Teresa Palmer: HB 105 will have not just economic impact but family impact

“Please consider not only the economic impact but the family impact this bill would have on our beautiful state and its beautiful rural and agricultural communities.” That’s FTBOA member Teresa Palmer, who with her husband owns and operates a 125-acre breeding and training facility in Morriston, Fla. Palmer spoke against HB 105 at the March 17 Florida House commerce committee hearing on the bill that would allow Gulfstream Park to keep its gaming licenses without live horse racing. “We are a small business,” she said. “And HB 105 will devastate not only our small business but the racing industry in Florida. Anything that has been decoupled stops existing.’ Thanks to TRI industry partners Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association (FTBOA) for video of the committee testimony and National HBPA for hosting on Youtube. These individual videos are available for any media use as part of the Thoroughbred Racing Initiative’s advocacy campaign promoting live horse racing, starting in South Florida.
